Kindly refer to this Ministry�s letter No.
24-6/2004 �WL-I dated September 12, 2007 vide which you were requested to
nominate the suitable person(s) along with the project proposal(s) for the
following Fellowship awarded every alternate year to encourage and foster the
spirit of scientific enquiry, preferably amongst officials of the Forest and
Wildlife Departments of State Governments/Union Territories:
(1)
Dr. Salim Ali
National Wildlife Fellowship Award (for research/experimental projects on avian
wildlife) for the year 2007
(2)
Shri Kailash Sankhla National Wildlife Fellowship Award
(for research/experimental project on mammalian wildlife) for the year 2008
These fellowships, awarded normally for a period
of two years, provide an opportunity to field officials to take up
research/experimental projects aimed at conservation of our wildlife.� The details of the award scheme are
enclosed.� In addition, the following
points are also re-emphasized for convenience:-
(i)
The awardee need not
take leave during the period of award to carry out the research and may
continue to be on duty.
(ii)
There is no
mandatory qualification prescribed for the award of these������ fellowships.
(iii)
In the past, several
Range Officers/Assistant Conservators of Forests� have been awarded these fellowships, hence field officials may be
informed, encouraged and nominated to avail this opportunity.
All such nominations in the prescribed
proforma along with the project proposal (each in sets of ten) as per the
attached copy of the guideline may be sent to the Director (Wildlife
Preservation), Ministry of Environment & Forests, Paryavaran Bhawan, CGO
Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi � 110003 by 31.12.2007.
It is further requested that this may
kindly be given wide publicity for submission of nominations from the
interested individuals from Universities/Scientific Societies etc.�

����������� As you are aware, the Ministry of
Environment & Forests, Government of India has instituted the following
Fellowship Awards to encourage and foster the spirit of scientific enquiry,
