About CRESEP
Climate Change Response & Ecosystem Services Enhancement in Rajasthan (CRESEP) Funded by JICA
The Government of India has received a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency to finance project for “Climate Change Response and Ecosystem Services Enhancement in Rajasthan” (CRESEP).
The Project Objective of CRESEP is, “to respond to climate change and enhance ecosystem services through afforestation, forest conservation, biodiversity conservation and eco-restoration, livelihood improvement activities and institutional strengthening, thereby contributing to sustainable socioeconomic development in Rajasthan.”
The outline of the Project is as follows:
- Executing Agency: The Rajasthan Forest Department.
- Project Duration: 10 Years (2024-25to 2034-35).
- Project Area: 25 districts of Rajasthan– Ajmer, Banswara, Barmer, Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sikar, Sirohi, Udaipur and (6 new districts) - Balotra, Phalodi, Beawar, Didwana-Kuchaman, Kotputli-Behror, Salumber
- Loan Details : Project Outlay ₹ 1774 Cr (Loan from JICA ₹ 1493 Cr; 85%) (GoR share ₹ 281 Cr; 15%)
The entire Project area is divided under 30 Divisional Management Units (DMUs) and 90 Field Management Units (FMUs). The basic unit for implementation of Project activities is Village.
The Project activities have been classified into three major components:
1. Desert
2. Non-Desert
3. Institutional Strengthening
